Kicking Off the 2026-27 Season of the LAUSD Robotics League
On September 12, we kicked off a new season of FIRST Tech Challenge with the i.am Angel x LAUSD Robotics League.
More than 200 students and coaches gathered at Foshay Learning Center in South Los Angeles for the launch of this year’s challenge, BIOBUZZ, a nature-themed game in which teams design robots to collect and shoot “pollen” into baskets representing a beehive.
The kickoff also featured workshops led by students and educators on mechanical engineering, team organization, game strategy, and fundraising. These sessions gave teams practical tools to strengthen their programs and build greater financial sustainability throughout the season.
Now entering its sixth year, the LAUSD Robotics League continues to bring high-quality robotics and STEM opportunities to more than 100 public schools across Los Angeles. As school budgets remain stretched thin, sustaining access to hands-on STEM education is more important than ever. We look forward to another season of competition, innovation, and opportunity for LAUSD students.
We’re starting to build our Mentorship Corps this year! Volunteer as a Robotics Mentor and help LAUSD students design, build, problem-solve, and compete as part of their robotics journey. Sign up here: https://forms.gle/UwnsGMrpsoPsHuin8
